BONUS: STI Campaign
This bonus assignment allowed students to make their own event flyer for an awareness event regarding a Sexually Transmitted Infection of their choice.
For this assignment, I had creative freedom when designing a flyer. I incorporated components that would attract students, while also providing resources for those in need. I chose to put Mariah Carey on the slide because I took this course in the Fall semester, and around this time, she had a very popular sound on TikTok. As a future healthcare professional, I found it important to find ways to engage with the community. Especially since Public Health in this aspect is not talked about enough or shamed.
What I learned
I chose this assignment because it was a fun way to implement items I learned in the classroom and spread this information with my peers who may have little to no knowledge. Although the event was not real, I still think it would have been successful because I wanted to partner with the Indiana University Indianapolis program that offers free HIV/STI testing on the first Thursday of every month.
